a gardenia in my garden!

i have been waiting for this for months!  now i know why these beauties are SO spendy.  dad planted this when they were here waiting for clover to be born and it finally performed--3 months later!  wish you all could take in the scent on this brisk (72 degree) autumn morn.  happy first of october!

  3. I love gardenias! The first spring in our new house was made fragrant by a gardenia bush...sadly, it didn't survive fall. I hope yours fares better. I think your climate is better suited for it! In China women would sell gardenias and we would buy entire baskets full, making the sellers stunned and us happy!

  4. My mom instilled in me a love for Gardenias; a love that she received from her father. I think they're the most-prized flower (& fragrance) in our home. I think they were more treasured because she always talked about how they couldn't grow here in Utah; that they needed a place like her home of California.

    One time, she gifted me a gardenia plant to keep indoors for my birthday. I was happiest when a new flower bloomed. And saddest when the plant finally died...
