Late Start of a Tradition

I've always wanted the tradition of making doughnuts on Halloween.
I'm not sure why it's taken me so long to finally do it (and I was 2 days late), but better late than never. Pearl repeatedly asked me throughout the process, "Are you sure you know how to make doughnuts?" No, Pearl, I'm not, but you never know until you try. She seemed pleased with the results, though. The dough turned out stickier than the recipe described, so I did some last minute improvisation and made doughnut holes--
pumpkin doughnut holes.
The final products were topped with either cinnamon/sugar/nutmeg mixture,
or a simple powdered sugar/cream glaze.   The consensus was, yes, let us definitely make this a tradition.  Did you want the recipe?

  1. Mmmm, those look like the perfect after-kids-in-bed treat right now (all my kids are in bed)--don't spoil my dinner though I haven't eaten yet! I know why you haven't started it until now!! Tiny little tots!

  3. I went to Krispy Kreme on Halloween with the intention of buying a box and getting a box free, but I was thwarted in my attempt to rescue the donut tradition here. Their machine was broken! On Halloween! I even waited outside in my car hoping it would be repaired and I could take donuts to the Jones' party but they wouldn't open up! Boy, do yours ever look good!
