THE Cookie

Did you know that to rotate those tons and tons of wheat cans under your bed, you don't have to do just entirely healthy culinary endeavors? Well, it's true. These:

are what we have been enjoying around here. 2 secrets: 1-bake only what you'll eat daily and 2-when you take them out of the oven, hit the cookie sheet on the edge of the table or counter to make the cookies collapse (making a chewy center, crispy edges)
Whole Wheat Chocolate Chip Cookies

350 degree oven

Cream:
1 C butter
1 C brown sugar
1 C white sugar

mix in:
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda

add and mix lightly:
2 C whole wheat flour (freshly ground)
1 C flour
2 C oats
1 C chocolate chunks (or chips)
(or, we've done 2 1/2 C wheat, and no white--experiment with the proportions)

Bake 13-15 minutes (take them out just before you think they're done--and follow the 2 secrets above)

Bon appetit!!

  3. BTW ALL

I skipped adding any white refined flour. These are 100 percent whole wheat.

    Maybe about 2 1/2 C flour.

  5. Mom, they really are yummy! For starters use both white and whole wheat. Do not over bake. Tell him they're not REALLY healthy. I mean, they do have 2 sticks of butter and all that sugar. Tell me what you think!
