Did you know that to rotate those tons and tons of wheat cans under your bed, you don't have to do just entirely healthy culinary endeavors? Well, it's true. These:
are what we have been enjoying around here. 2 secrets: 1-bake only what you'll eat daily and 2-when you take them out of the oven, hit the cookie sheet on the edge of the table or counter to make the cookies collapse (making a chewy center, crispy edges)
Whole Wheat Chocolate Chip Cookies
350 degree oven
Cream:
1 C butter
1 C brown sugar
1 C white sugar
mix in:
1 egg
1 tsp vanilla
1 tsp cinnamon
1/2 tsp salt
1 tsp baking soda
add and mix lightly:
2 C whole wheat flour (freshly ground)
1 C flour
2 C oats
1 C chocolate chunks (or chips)
(or, we've done 2 1/2 C wheat, and no white--experiment with the proportions)
Bake 13-15 minutes (take them out just before you think they're done--and follow the 2 secrets above)
Bon appetit!!
Mmmm mmmm wish I was closer to you!
ReplyDeleteWell, that's a coincidence, so do I!
ReplyDeleteBTW ALL
ReplyDeleteI skipped adding any white refined flour. These are 100 percent whole wheat.
Maybe about 2 1/2 C flour.

ReplyDeleteMom, they really are yummy! For starters use both white and whole wheat. Do not over bake. Tell him they're not REALLY healthy. I mean, they do have 2 sticks of butter and all that sugar. Tell me what you think!
