Sew All 26: F

First of all, thank you all for your vote of confidence this last week in my little black dress on Project Sewn.  I find it a lot more difficult not only to sew for myself, but to share it with others, especially my own designs in which I can point out all the flaws and should'ves (not to mention the doubt).  Each of the women in the competition deserves kudos for her bravery.
And seeing how I'm still in the competition, I'm "freeing" (thanks for the suggestion, Rachael!) two birds with one stone again this week with Sew All 26: F as well as my submission for Project Sewn.
I know, my kids are getting the short end of the sewing stick, but I'm enjoying beefing up my own wardrobe, a bit of selfish sewing.
I've given details of the making of this outfit over at Project Sewn. I almost threw in the towel with the jacket and the pants were plan B, but, as I complained via text to my mom and sister, they told me they had faith I'd pull it off.  So I did.
This week's challenge was to sew from an era in history.  I chose the 40's: when the pantsuit for women was invented.
Marlene Dietrich, especially.  Look at her style!

Of course I gave it my own style stamp,
and added a few details, like a silver tag along the pant hem,
and sleeves with some flair.
Of course, I waited until the last hour to take photos and it rained.  And rained.  And rained some more.
Pearl was my photographer once again because this is what happened when I tried to use the timer:
Silly {slow} Katy!
Head on over to Project Sewn and vote for your favorite look.

  1. 'Short end of the stick'? If anyone gets the short end of the sewing stick, it's usually us Mamas -- I think it's awesome that you're sewing something for yourself. Besides, they'll eventually grow into them too, right? Well done, you!

  17. This morning I did a search for pants made out of upholstery fabric because I purchased this striped upholstery fabric from Hancocks Fabric on sale for $3.95 a yard. I couldn't resist because its a cute fabric and I can tell no wrinkling which is perfect for me...I hate to iron. Any-whooooo I came upon your entry on Project Sewn and clicked on your page to read the full article. Oh yes that is a beautiful jacket, expertly executed with fine details. Same goes for the pants. I can't even tell you how this has inspired me!! Let me count the ways...attention to detail...finding pretty zippers, incorporating my logo on my clothes, and then when clicking on your other projects, teaching my granddaughter Gracie to sew starting on her next visit. I loved the pleated collar on the dress you made out of a curtain (GREAT IDEA) and the stitched logo on the top and oh gosh so much more...and you look as good as your sewing projects (that's a high compliment). 6 children? You sure don't look it sizewise or stress wise. And here I am trying to corset train to look thinner. No I need to lose weight. Thanks for the morning inspiration. You are certainly bookmarked from here on out...GREAT JOB. Oh and did I say I love the outfit in this article? Man you are good.
