CD/DVD Pocket/Cozy/Envelope or what have you

Just keeping a blog pretty much certifies that you are the family photographer.  We take lots of photos.  Period.  What I get frequently is, "Can I have copies of all these photos?"  Of course!  I always say.  Then time goes by, sometimes I even get the photos on a disc, and then they sit there, mostly because I love pretty packaging, and if I don't have time to make it pretty, it doesn't go anywhere.  So, I decided to make a whole bunch of CD/DVD pockets to have on hand.  I It got a bit crazy.
Supplies:
Cardstock (I prefer using the 12 X 12 so I can get 2 out of it with very little waste*)
Tape (preferably colorful :)
Round punch 1 1/2-2"

Cut 2 strips of 5" wide from cardstock (using the double sided is also fun--a different pattern shows on the inside when you're finished

Fold each piece, leaving 2" at the top.  Punch a half-circle in the center of the shorter edge.
You can also round your corners of the flap.

Using decorative tape, tape the edges where the two sides meet.  Fold down top flap.

You (read: I) could really go wild with this.  I am not a scrap book person.  But that doesn't mean I can't appreciate all the punches and scrapbook paraphernalia, right?

My favorite is the beige and red one.

You can seal it with some more tape, use string, or a sticker.

This is called a happy mess.
Oh, and I don't really have any waste*, as I use the extra strip of cardstock to punch little tags for gifts and notes.

So, if I owe you some photos, now is the time to kindly remind me.

  3. I don't scrapbook either but I hoard the paper. I think I secretly wish it would magically turn into fabric overnight. Hasn't happened yet, but I have found some fun uses for it, and I love this one!

  4. Yay! A tutorial that I can actually use! Great idea, Katy.

Have been thinking a lot about you lately, actually and even checked plane ticket prices (turns out the airlines also think florida and california are far apart).

I owe you an email. I have news.

  8. What a great idea! So cute and it looks relatively simple to create. Where does one find such cute varieties of tape though? Michael's? Online? Now I want some! Thanks again.

  16. I too, followed the link from TipNut and LOVE this. As you and others said, not a scrapbooker, but hoard paper, have all the supplies and embelishments, and love to make pretty things with the pretty paper. Thanks for a great idea! I see a button/string closure-like the old fashioned interoffice envelopes...

  17. These are adorable. I love the different colours of tape with the patterned paper. I just used your instructions to make two and glued them in the back of my wedding scrapbook to hold the music cd and the photo cd. I'll be posting about my scrapbook next week (and of course will give you credit for the instructions) if you'd like to stop over and check it out.
