The Friday after we returned from Korea, I was still adjusting to the time.  The only one still adjusting to the time.  I woke up at 3, unable to sleep.  I lay there, thinking of all the tasks I wanted to accomplish (mostly of my newly purchased fabric, still saturated with the exotic scents of faraway lands.)  I then realized that the Halloween party that was supposed to be next week, giving me a full week to sew the highly discussed costumes for the Dill family, was changed to the week before--that very day.  Suddenly, there was no possibility for slumber and me to have a rendezvous.  I left the bed with my snoozing spouse enfolded in its warmth and sat down in the closet with my squeaky Ginghers in my hands.  Going over what everyone decided to be for Halloween in my mind, I began pulling shimmery, furry, sheer, stretchy, and fluffy fabric from my cloth cache.  Then started the sing-song sheers squeak.  My goal:  7 bug-themed costumes by that evening.  A sleepy eyed face appeared a few hours later at the closet door, wondering what in the world I was working on.  I can't sleep.  So you get your scissors out and start cutting at everything in sight?  Sure.

I failed to reach my goal by one costume which had to be purchased.  The baby bee stripes are a bit whimsical, but you try sewing stretchy velvet on a thick faux fur.  I dare you.  But Clover doesn't mind skiwompus stripes and Azure didn't mind purchased butterfly wings.  I've only had the time to photograph the spider and her hourglass accessory, but the rest will surely follow.  Surely.

  1. love it! I can't wait to see the others. I made insect themed costumes, too. Two bees and a beekeeper, but, due to a nasty stomach bug, they may have to wait for next year.:(
