Sewing Project 5

I used another Oliver + S pattern for this little number. They've come out with 2 new patterns that I think I just might have to try out. I like Oliver + S because they don't overlook a single detail and I'm a details kind of gal. I think the galoshes go great, Azure's addition to the ensemble. The little yellow, glass, rose button I got in NY. I love the little black dot buttons. I have another project in mind for them.

  6. How hard are those Olive + S patterns, you know, for a total beginner like me?

  7. Carly, that's the lovely thing about the Oliver + S patterns--they have a difficulty rating. Click on the details of the pattern you like and it will have 1-4 scissors as a guide--one set of scissors being the easiest, such as the Teaparty Dress, or the Sailboat Top/Skirt. Start out with one of those to gauge how much you want to take on. If you've never even used a pattern before, you'll want to read the entire instructions page, including terminology, etc.

  8. Beautiful. Where do you find time to sew, though, having 5 children around the house?

  9. Sparklebot: 3/5 kids are in school now. I do the laundry really fast. I trim the bushes really fast. I shampoo the carpet really fast (though they dry very slowly). I scrub the toilets really fast. I sweep the walkway really fast. Because, in the back of my mind, I know my reward will be more time to sew.

  10. Thanks for the tip, Katy. I may try the easiest pattern they have! (Did you get my email about the Shabby Apple design contest?) You should do it.

  11. Katy, when you were a child you NEVER moved fast. I didn't realize all it took was a little movitation.

  12. I love the idea of you looking for buttons, saving them, and then using them for JUST the right project.

    I love this!

  13. Mom, Is that where my kids get their molasses tendencies? From moi? Hmmm. Maybe I ought to be a little more patient.
