Unapproved: Drummer Turns One

Well. He's gone and done it.  The boy turned one.  I did not approve that.  Has it really been a whole year since I was 9months PLUS 2 WEEKS pregnant?  That went by faster than my bobbin winds.
Please excuse the stray threads on the carpet.  In the middle of busy, full-speed sewing.  No time to vacuum.
This was actually take two of our photo shoot.  Yesterday did not go well.  It was more like this:
and it almost went the exact same way today,
until Drummer discovered that I gave him a plum to hold, not just a plain old ball.  Yes, sir, that changed everything.
The shirt and pants are another Oliver + S fall pattern that just came out.  I've never had the chance to try out one of their boy patterns, and I have always been in love with raglan sleeves, but my girls aren't huge fans.  I stamped the spectacles with fabric ink and used contrasting thread for the hem, mostly because I was too lazy and in a hurry to change thread, but then I really liked it, so I'd do it again.  Can you find "no big dill?"
This was so super speedy to sew.  Under an hour, faster if you're making them en masse.  Which. I think I'll do I love them so.
The cargo pants will take much longer, but I think they turned out so professionally with the 3 dimensional pockets on the sides and the knee darts.  Knee darts!  How seductive is that?! Oh, and sorry about the lint.  No time to de-lint.  Must sew.

It was just yesterday wasn't it, that he was like this
Can't stand that he's starting to stand.  I'd put a stop to it if I knew how.
Happy One, boy.
You've changed us for the better.

  1. Happy Birthday to the littlest Dill!
It was bound to happen. I've so enjoyed watching Drummer and our grand magnificent grow this past year. It is interesting to see that Drummer has so many teeth; Our little man has only 2 but has been walking since month 10. He is now using toys and furniture to climb over the safety gates. YIKES.

Thanks for sharing Drummer's first year with all of us.

  3. Happy Birthday, Drummer!! It's insane how quick they grow up. My youngest turned two last month...and I'm SURE it hasn't been that long since I was in the hospital having him. If you figure out how to make them stop growing up for just a little while...let me know.

  13. Happy Birthday, Drummer!
I love this blog! I don't usually leave comments, but Katy's remark about how fast D. Is growing up struck a chord. My little one has her first loose tooth & I was shocked at how sad I was about it! So if anyone figures out how to keep kiddos small. . .

  14. I'm right there with you! I CANNOT BELIEVE IT HAS BEEN A YEAR! This truly makes me realize how fast my year has zoomed by (since I didn't have any little one milestones it's quite easy to let the months slip by!)

  23. Oh dear, that was definitely unauthorised. Happy Birthday to your dear boy.

The B&W photo of those cheeks, lashes and fingers digging into the plum should be a wall-sized canvas!

  28. So, first off, happy birthday to your littlest one. Secondly, what are those blue spindle things? I have some that a friend gave me & I use them to look pretty on play sets (I work in theatre) but don't know what they are.

  31. I forbid my daughter to turn 5. I allowed her to get up to 4, but 5 was where I drew the line. However, she did it completely against my wishes.

  32. Ok he is adorable, but you have to know that! And then the thought came into my head what if she isn't still sharing this photo of him when he 5, 10 or 18 but then he could hold the calendar, just such a cutie! And picture # 10 favors your dad, the same expression!

  36. Aww, your son was born on my daughter's due date. I
Just had to stop and say I am so disappointed that I didn't start reading your blog after I fell in love with your ruffle your bustle skirt for Olive. I have been sitting here reading every post from the most recent to here. I also hate that I am joining at the end and everything is backwards. Love your blog and your daughters make me think my 5 sisters aren't so bad, until I talk to more than one of them in the same day
