Chore Star Tutorial & PYP Give-AWAY!

Ryan can tell when my day has been particularly stressful or busy when he asks if we got any good mail and I gasp and put on my big eyes and say I haven't gotten the mail yet!  Taking a shower and getting the mail are two of my favorites of each day.  So, camping puts a cramp in both those, which is probably why we've never gone with our kids.

The other day a box of cheerful, bright, happy items showed up on my doorstep, handed to me by one of my favorite people, the mailman, of course!  I don't even know his name, yet day after day he brings birthday gifts, hand-written notes, and surprises like this one.  I ought to write him a hand-written note.
It was from the hottest flash sale sight for crafts: Pick Your Plum.  I got going on a little project with some of the supplies that was in that morsel-y goodness of a box (Have you caught it yet?  The PYP Fever? )  I spray painted these wooden bunting triangles with some chalkboard paint (it recommends 2 coats).
I didn't have any nails that were bigger than the holes, so I thought I'd use some little wooden stars I had to cover them, but you can always buy some large headed nails to do the trick and save a couple of steps.
I painted the stars with the chalkboard paint as well and positioned the triangles on the wall using painters tape to keep them in place while I figured out how I wanted them and to avoid peeling the paint.
My skinny nails kept cracking my stars (I finally learned my lesson after the 4th one), so I drilled tiny holes in them before hammering them into the wall.
They're subtle, but fun.  (And do you know what I learned last weekend?  Benjamin Moore can make any color of paint into chalkboard paint!  What?!)
Around here we rotate after-meal chores each week, but undoubtedly Ryan and I are hollering "who's on clear? who's on wipe? who's on sweep?" so I thought we'd use our star as a weekly reminder so I know who the guilty ones are ;) (Putting napkins in dirty laundry and dishes are the other two, in case you were wondering).  I may go get some more little stars to add because I love the shooting-star-trailing look.
Now for the fun part!  I get to choose a winner to receive their very own Pick Your Plum box (that's $75 worth of goodies!)
How shall we play today?  How about you tell me what you would do with a weekend entirely to yourself?
★Leave your answer in the comment section (just one please!)

  1. A whole weekend to myself seems so luxurious with four little ones running around my house. I think sewing would be number one on my list of things to do. But then I'd have to find a complete weekend's worth of movies to watch while sewing - these must be movies I've seen a million times so I don't miss anything truly important. I'm sure I would sleep in and then instead of leaving bed in the morning I'd just pull out a book and read. Yeah, that's probably all I would get to over the weekend.

  2. I wouldn't know where to start...I think I would catch up on my crafting/sewing. I only have 3 little ones at home & I don't know how you do it with 6. You are a saint. I love PYP, by the way. I look forward to their email each day :)

  3. Oh my... that's easy--SEW, SEW, SEW!!!!!

  4. Oh my. I would gladly sleep in and then soak in a big tub! Mommyhood has made me so boring haha.

  5. I hope I win, I've never bought anything from PYP!

  7. A weekend to myself would result in showering, sewing, cleaning and watching old films.

    ReplyDelete
  8. hmmm, I would definitely sleep in and then go for a quiet lunch at my favorite taco place. Then I would do some sewing or another project and cook myself a nice dinner and go see a movie. the next day i would sleep in and go to the gym. then make french toast and maybe have a quiet day reading magazines or watching a movie. maybe a massage can be squeezed in there somewhere. wow that was pretty specific, maybe i have been dreaming about a weekend to myself :)

    ReplyDelete
  9. with a weekend to myself -- I'd watch chick flicks and sew :)

  10. Oh this is going to be good. I'd start with a long run, followed by a smoothie (full of things I choose of course), then I'd turn up my music really loud and dance. After that, maybe I'd craft, maybe watch a movie, maybe work in the garden...who knows. That's the cool part is that I could to whatever I wanted without my kids needing me every second. Oh, and I'd make sure that my baby finally takes a bottle so he can bond with Daddy for a while!

  11. I follow you, I love your blog! thanks for the inspiration!

  12. I would sleep in, then drink coffee, listen to podcasts and sew...then go to the movies. What a treat!

  13. A whole weekend by myself?!? Hmmm... I would like to say that I would spend the whole time being productive- cleaning, organizing, decorating, sewing. However, I have a feeling sleeping, watching reality TV and eating Thai take out would be the real winners!

    ReplyDelete
  14. A weekend by myself... I think I might be lonely. But if I had to I would SLEEP IN! Eat out all weekend so no cooking, no clean up! A little quilting...watch a girly movie (gone with the wind)

    ReplyDelete
  15. a whole weekend to myself would start with late night sewing and netflix watching...followed by early saturday morning garage saling and farmer's market perusing and then a stop at the quilt shop. then sewing. all. day. long. and then McDonald's for supper--yum!
adn then church on Sunday followed by my family returning and finding me happy and rested :)

  16. Such a simple thing takes on a whole new meaning after kids! A weekend to myself would begin with one day of sleeping until my body decided it was a good time to wake up. Then there would be fabric stores, bike rides, foods my kids hate and sewing.

    ReplyDelete
  17. Well, first on my list would definitely be sleep :) Then finish up projects around the house that never seem to get done with little ones running around. And enjoy a little quiet down time with a toasty warm drink.

    ReplyDelete
  18. First, I'd sleep in as late as I can (which these days might still be depressingly early, but oh well, more time for fun stuff!)
I'd read great books, I'd sew, I'd scrapbook...and I'd probably really miss my favorite J and sweet V.
    Thanks for the giveaway!
    ~Natalie

P.S. I follow you on Google Reader, does that count?

  19. I'd like to go to the farmer's market for a tasty pastry, get some coffee and sit in the sun to read my book.

(I follow you on Google Reader)

    ReplyDelete
  20. Hmmm. Entire weekend, huh? First, breakfast out....Eggs Benedict....then a good read...walk with the pups....iced tea.....Thai for dinner and a good movie. Sunday would begin with the flea market, another great breakfast with home fries, really crispy and some cream chipped beef on waffles.....some sewing or craftiness....roasted chicken for dinner and then sitting and anxiously awaiting those who had disappeared all weekend!

  21. A whole weekend to myself? I would probably do a bit of everything starting with take out from my favorite restaurant. Then I would quilt, knit, scrapbook, watch some tv, and read. :)

    ReplyDelete
  22. I follow you through google reader but just did the official follow too. :)

    ReplyDelete
  23. First I'd catch up on housework and then I'd *try* to catch up on sewing projects AND I'd have to take naps in between. All the things I can never do with the kids and husband home--but I love them all the same. :o)

    ReplyDelete
  24. I think I could choose a weekend without internet or external disturbances. with my book and my spouse, maybe by the sea!

    ReplyDelete
  25. I can only imagine a day to myself! I'd sleep in late, eat brownies for breakfast, sew all day and watch chick flicks all night!

    ReplyDelete
  26. I follow your blog and I love it!

    ReplyDelete
  27. That would be the most amazing thing ever! Sew, read, sleep in, eat chocolate.

(Truthfully, I'd probably walk around not knowing what to do with my self because I'm so used to 5 kids running around and making noise and asking me things.)

    ReplyDelete
  28. Looks like a super fun box! If I had a weekend to myself, I'd probably do a home pedicure and then sew something for ME. Oh and while I was doing all that, I'd watch Sense and Sensibility. Unlike you, I have NO girls at my house, and the boys HATE English period movies.

    ReplyDelete
  29. First, clean the house. Can't sew in this mess.
Then, sew! Baby quilt for a baby that's already a month old, items for my 2-year-old's panda stuffed animals: mini sleeping bag, tent, etc. We just went camping and now she's using an oven mitt as a sleeping bag :)

    ReplyDelete
  30. I think I would cozy up in bed and read. I used to read.. a lot, before becoming a mom... Well, I still do but now it's of the quick fix kind-- magazines and online. To be able to do nothing but pick up a book and not feel guilty about it would be wonderful.

    ReplyDelete
  31. i'm pretty sure i would spend a good half day picking out fabric and the rest of the time coming up with some kind of awesome quilt or sewing craft.

    ReplyDelete
  32. I'd probably put on some movies (old faves) and read books while eating chips and dip in my jammy jams.

    ReplyDelete
  33. First I'd probably read a book for a while. And then cut out some masks and crowns I've been meaning to do. Then I'd finish the stuffed animals for my nativity dolls. All while watching something like Project Runway. Oh, and I'd make delicious Chocolate Chip cookies to eat...for emotional energy when I start missing the family. :)

    ReplyDelete
  34. I would love to win a PYP giveaway.

  35. Saturday: sleep in, have breakfast (at the table in silece and unrushed), sew, go out for lunch, read a book, take a nice long bath, go out for dinner, have drinks with friends.
Sunday: sleep in, start to miss the kids, have a peaceful breakfast, miss the kids, sew, miss the kids, read a book, pick up the kids early...
I would love a weekend to myself, but to be honest, I think I'd miss them the whole time...

    ReplyDelete
  36. I also follow your blog and I forgot to answer the question. [I'm having one of those days today]. I would have lofty sewing and crafting dreams and probably accidentally spend the weekend cleaning and working on stuff for the kids. Okay, and maybe there would be a mini-Netflix or Jane Austen marathon.

    ReplyDelete
  37. I follow your blog (from Belgium :) )

    ReplyDelete
  38. A whole weekend! Wow! I would get an awful lot of scrapbooking done! And all my mending! And probably eat some ice cream and indulge in some fluffy girly movies that I know my husband wouldn't enjoy!

    ReplyDelete
  39. i would read tons of books, finish some projects i've been working on forever and actually be able to use the restroom all by myself!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I would get a pedicure, cook, sew a skirt the night before church. see a movie with friends.

    ReplyDelete
  41. I would read, sleep, sew and repeat! A whole weekend sounds like heaven!

  46. A whole weekend? I'd organize a couple of closets so I could feel virtuous, then SEW!

    ReplyDelete
  47. Ahhhhhh...a whole weekend to myself!! I would go downstairs to my basement to start sewing and I would stay down there doing so every single second aside from bathroom trips and necessary eating and a few hours to sleep, if I absolutely had to. It would be amazing. :) Thanks for the fantastic giveaway!!

  49. I would drive up to Cincinnati and enjoy the art museum for a full day, then stop at the conservatory down the road. I'd stay overnight in a hotel after a Thai feast, then shop for fabric and vintage clothes the next day, after sleeping in. Wouldn't that be wonderful.

    ReplyDelete
  50. Wow, a weekend to myself! I'd drink my coffee and knit on the porch swing in the mornings. Do some sewing in the afternoons. Walk the dog on the beach in the evening. Order out Thai for dinner. Watch Pride and Prejudice. The list goes on...

    I'm already a follower!

    ReplyDelete
  51. First, I would sleep in, take a nice walk outside sipping a hot cup of coffee, browse pinterest for some ideas and catch up on blog reading, then get busy tacking the list of sewing projects that keeps getting longer and longer! It would be the absolutely best if my sister could come and join my day "alone" though. ;)

    ReplyDelete
  52. I follow you with my google reader. :)

  54. I do get a weekend here and there to myself (not as exciting as it sounds, I have my kids 24/7 the rest of the time, but still it's a nice time to catch up). I tend to sleep the first day and sew the rest of the time. Wouldn't have it any other way.

My kids would be so jealous of your kids dishes duties ... here clear, wipe, sweep is one job (load, unload, and clean family room are the other three ... unless the oldest is home, then clean bathroom is added to the list). Love the star.

    ReplyDelete
  55. I would read, sleep, and eat goodies without having to share. :)

    ReplyDelete
  56. With a whole weekend to myself I would get my house all clean take myself out to eat and tackle my list of sewing that I have been wanting to do...while listening to my favorite downloaded audio books!

    ReplyDelete
  57. Clean and craft. I'd clean all those places that I hate to clean when kids are around. Then I'd craft because it would be so sad to spend a whole free weekend cleaning.

    ReplyDelete
  58. I would spend time outdoors. Then I would probably catch up on life- cook, clean, etc. And of course, miss my husband and kids.

    ReplyDelete
  59. Oh.. If I had a whole weekend for myself right now, I'd love (desperately LOVE) to be able to sleep for 8 hours straight (I have a 4 month old boy...), then I'd love to have a good walk around my hometown (Barcelona), where I am right now visiting my family, and probably go shopping for nice fabric and material for my never ending project list.
    yep... dream on, Irina...

    ReplyDelete
  60. I've been following your blog for a good while now. Thanks for sharing all your talent!

    ReplyDelete
  61. sleep, sleep, sleep. nothing else.

    ReplyDelete
  62. I would go shopping and do a sewing project I've been wanting to do and take naps.

    ReplyDelete
  63. Oh I would sew and sew and sew.

    ReplyDelete
  64. I would finish up my friend's baby quilt and start one for my brother's first baby....due in two months. The clock is ticking.

    ReplyDelete
  65. Shopping, eat out, and see two movies in a row!

    ReplyDelete
  66. See, go see a movie, sleep sleep sleep.

  67. That's hilarious about loving getting the mail because I DO TOO!! My hubby took the kids for a few hours last weekend and I went to Joann's, Michael's, Target and Wal-Mart. I would have liked to of thrown in the mall and the Dollar Tree into that mix. Add some time for crafting and that would make a great weekend!!

    ReplyDelete
  68. Read, knit, bake, visit with friends, and wonder when the family would be home

    ReplyDelete
  69. I would clean my craft room cuz it's outa control! Then I'd probably craft a bunch and mess it up again. Ha!

    ReplyDelete
  70. I would sleep a lot. Read a lot. Sew a lot. Try not to clean a lot. And maybe stare off into space for just a little while!

    ReplyDelete
  71. sewing, and a long bubble bath, and a date night with hubby since that hasn't happen since 2011!! ahhh!

    ReplyDelete
  72. a weekend to myself would hopefully mean a clean house, a book or two read, and a long bath by myself. I love pyp. My husband does not! Haha

    ReplyDelete
  73. i follow you. And now that looks creepy.

    ReplyDelete
  74. A whole weekend to myself? Wow. It's been so long since I've had free time... I'd probably spend time sewing without little interruptions, spend some time cleaning the house and maybe even take a nap!

    ReplyDelete
  75. I'm sure that for the first part of the weekend, I would sew, drink lots of coffee, read, and eat homemade toffee on the porch. Maybe go shoe shopping. But then, honestly, I'd miss my kids, so I'd probably spend the rest of the weekend hunting them down and just relaxing with them.

    ReplyDelete
  76. with a weekend to myself i would drive to the closest lake and swim my cares away, lay by the shore and read till my eyes close.

    ReplyDelete
  77. I just had a weekend to myself while my husband took the kids on a dads and kids camping trip with friend. I went to bed early, got up early to run, spent the day sewing and then had dinner and brunch with friends. A little housework was accomplished as well. Refreshing and rewarding. Thanks! kristie_keely(at)yahoo(d0t)com

  78. Well, my husband happens to be going away this weekend, but if you count the dissertation that needs to be finished soon, I won't really be alone. I do plan to spend a bit of time figuring out my new sewing machine that I got for my wedding. I'm so excited to learn how to use all the features that my old one didn't have!

    ReplyDelete
  79. Wow what a luxury that would be for me. I would probably exercise, sew a ton, and watch a bunch of movies in the background.

    ReplyDelete
  80. A weekend by myself? I would probably spend one night doing nothing. The next day cleaning up, getting rid of, putting away. That evening sewing, and the next day sewing. How nice would that be to not have any distractions or interruptions to get some things done!

    ReplyDelete
  81. Holed away in my craft room in PJ pants, computer on to Netflix, a bowl of ice cream and my sewing machine! I have so many Christmas gifts and projects to work on, it would be wonderful to have a full weekend to myself to work on them!

    ReplyDelete
  82. I would probably knit and sew like crazy...sleep in, read the paper...and maybe tackle a big job like reorganizing the pantry. And yoga...and coffee...and maybe just sit still and enjoy the peace and quiet.

    ReplyDelete
  83. If I had a weekend ALL to myself, I'd go crafty crazy and make all kinds of stuff for the upcoming holidays! Things to give my neighbors and girlfriends :)

    ReplyDelete
  84. Well, first off, I follow you...

    ReplyDelete
  85. I'd do a room. Of course, I'd fully expect ahead of time that I could do all my rooms. But yes, I'd do a room. A little girl room - curtains, wall hangings, everything in it's place, and then I'd sit down and start the quilt. That might not get done in the weekend. :)

    ReplyDelete
  86. ...and if I had a weekend to myself {and wanted to be productive} I'd gut my office re-organize maybe add some fun new things and make it a more fun space!

    ReplyDelete
  87. It sounds so sad but I would deep clean the house from top to bottom! I hate having to go room by room week by week. I want a three day weekend to just do it all at once.

    ReplyDelete
  88. definitely sleeping in, cozying up with knitting, coffee and hgtv, followed by a shower, sewing, shopping and lunch out with a friend (lunch includes a drink on this day), and finally home with some take out thai food to throw on a movie while sewing some more...a really good day to myself should include at least 1 finished project!

    ReplyDelete
  89. Sleep. I can see no other option for me.

    ReplyDelete
  90. An entire weekend to myself is unheard of. I would go for run, do some yoga without being climbed upon, have some uninterupted time to sew, and sleep through the night.

    ReplyDelete
  91. A whole weekend to myself, sleep would be first, second would be sewing clothes for myself and not my girls, but what would probably happen is my husband would come up with a work project and I would grouting tile or hauling rock for the landscape project in the back.

    ReplyDelete
  92. There would be a chic flick or some 80s sitcom on the tv (NODisney Channel), while I spent the day quilting my little heart out. And somehow I'd capture a dishes and laundry fairy to take care of those dreadful chores so I wouldn't feel guilty about ignoring them!

    ReplyDelete
  93. I would clean the entire house, sew a couple of things for my baby girl #4 due in November, watch Pride and Prejudice (again),sleep in...I haven't done that in a very long time :)

    ReplyDelete
  94. With two high-schoolers, I'm not sure if I could survive a whole weekend alone. It would be too quiet. I would get some serious sewing done though!

    ReplyDelete
  95. bahaha your two favorite daily things are some of mine. Maybe I'll use that as an excuse not to go camping sometime. :) Love the star chart! A whole weekend? I'd put a serious dent in my sewing to do list (halloween costumes, pr&p, baby gifts), go to the bathroom uninterrupted, clean the house and have it stay clean for more than 15 minutes, get out and shoot with my camera, and play whatever I want on the piano without any whining from others. :)

    ReplyDelete
  96. A whole weekend to myself? I would probably pass out from the shock! Then I would pick myself up, put on some great music, and organize my kitchen and other cabinets and our multitude of bookshelves that I never seem to be able to do with seven other people in the house!

    ReplyDelete
  97. I don't feel like an overachiever these days but I have been following you for a while now b/c you're cool.

    ReplyDelete
  98. I would sleep late (late=anytime after 6:00), clean, and then sew up a storm!

  100. A whole weekend? I want to say that I'd stay up til 2 a.m. and then sleep til afternoon. I'd shower and sew and read... But then again, I might find it lonely around here without all the usual noise... :)

    ReplyDelete
  101. What a clever use of those bunting triangles! hmmmm.....I would go shopping, stop at a coffee shop, eat at a quiet deli and then head home to sew til I fell asleep :) Bliss!

    ReplyDelete
  102. I would love to start with a clean house, a hot cup of tea and the new boy Oliver & S sewing patterns then get to work sewing a few new creations for Little Lucas first Birthday!

    ReplyDelete
  103. I'm a NBD follower! wouldn't miss a post :)

    ReplyDelete
  104. I would enjoy the silence. I would sleep in. I would read a book or watch a chick flick. Or both. I would sew something. But mostly I would enjoy the silence. ( I have six kids). :)

    ReplyDelete
  105. I would lock myself in my craft room and gleefully shorten my WIP list!!

    ReplyDelete
  106. Sleep, drink tea and read books, take a bath with a glass of wine, sew and sleep some more!

    ReplyDelete
  107. A whole weekend to myself would be HEAVEN! I would definitely sew...read a book....watch my favorite movies.....*sigh* It would be wonderful.....

  108. Finish all the sewing projects I keep collecting fabric for: A whole new wardrobe awaits!

    ReplyDelete
  109. i would can. and fill my pantry full of goodies for when my boys returned....

    ReplyDelete
  110. A weekend by myself would have to include catching up on good tv shows, Ben and Jerry's Phish Food, finally getting to my crafting wish list, and going on an adventure of some kind--a new restaurant in a new part of town, maybe exploring a new-to-me art museum. Wow, that sounds amazing! ejnorris at yahoo dot com
    THANKS!

    ReplyDelete
  111. I'd spend a few days before with the kids making the house immaculate so I wouldn't feel the compulsion to clean when the house was empty! Like nearly everyone else I'd eat take out, read like crazy, sew, watch Pride and Prejudice...the A&E version, crash at 2 in the morning then repeat the next day. And I'd probably wander around for the first hour or so wondering what to do with myself since my house and schedule are usually jam packed

    ReplyDelete
  112. Well!! I work weekends, so if I can get a weekend off, I just want us all to be together, sleep in, lazy brunch and just hang-out!
    Great blog, long time lurker!

    ReplyDelete
  113. A whole weekend all to myself?? While I'd certainly miss my 4 little ones, I'd happily skip to all the thrift shops and yard sales I can find. My lovely husband treated me to that for my birthday 2 weeks ago, and we went thrifting the whole day, while the grandparents watched the littles. It was such a lovely day, I can't imagine being able to do it twice!

    ReplyDelete
  114. A weekend to myself would involve sleeping past 6am, not having to load dishes into the dishwasher constantly, no meals to fix, no books to read to kids, and free time to catch up on projects. But, I would get bored without the noise and constant distractions.

    ReplyDelete
  115. A whole weekend??? I would head straight for the beach, and most of the time I would lie there, just breathing and sleeping. I would have a hot dog with everything from the beach hot dog man and probably a pina colada from the pina colada man (who else). If there were a fabric or antique store nearby, I think I'd hit those, but otherwise, sleeping on the beach with hot dogs and pina coladas.

  116. I am a NBD follower (via my Reader, but I click my Next button, so I do get all the ads).

P.S. Why in the world is everyone staying home? Was that part of the rules of the question?

    ReplyDelete
  117. ooo, if I had to stay in town...a long bike ride, picnic on the beach, sewing, reading, sitting to watch the birds off my deck. Stuff I can do during the week, but things I won't get interrupted doing!

Can I make it the weekend that the box of goodies arrives? It looks so fun!
    thanks for sharing.

    ReplyDelete
  118. I would love a whole weekend for myself. I would probably finish up sewing projects! I don't think I could finish them all, sadly. someday, right?

    ReplyDelete
  119. Hmmmmm???? A weekend to myself?!!! I would start with a trip to the hair salon to get a cut that I never seem to have time for. Then I would savor the view of a tidy house. Perhaps get those scrapbooks started and finished that are always a chore.

    ReplyDelete
  120. A weekend to myself? I don't know what I would do!! Probably get out all the crafts I have been wanting to finish/start and spend my whole time doing them!!

    ReplyDelete
  121. I'm going to find out what it's like to have a weekend to myself in just two short months! I often travel with my kids to see family while my husband works. We agreed that he should return the favor and take the kids away so I can be in my house by myself! Woohoo! Sewing, scrapbooking, cleaning things that will then remain clean....I can't wait!

    ReplyDelete
  122. If I had a weekend all to myself.... I would do a lot of reading and tea drinking! How wonderful would that be? And if I somehow got bored of that, I would do some crafts!

    ReplyDelete
  123. I would sit behind my sewing machine guilt free and make something totally fun that I keep putting off, like pillows for my sofa or a skirt for me!

    ReplyDelete
  124. I would enjoy "nap" time with my husband, then have a real nap, then enjoy the makerie sewing weekend- I sewwww :) want to go to that, but probably not in the budget :(

    ReplyDelete
  125. A whole weekend?!? I'd sleep, see, and do a whole lotta nothing! :)

    ReplyDelete
  126. A weekend entirely to myself??...Why, I would sew, of corse,...as any self respecting NBD follower would :)

  128. A whole weekend to myself? That would be amazing! I could say that I would clean the house or get a lot of stuff done. That would be a lie. I would sleep and read books and sleep and watch movies. I would spend 46 of those 48 hours in bed. I girl can dream!

  129. A whole weekend?? Well first I would go to LA, to Mood. After I picked out all the fabric and notions and thread and beads and goodness I could fit into my empty suitcase, I'd fly home and sew all night and day. Then I would need little models to try on the new clothes I made, and have a fashion show. So I'd end the lonesome weekend early by getting snuggles from my missing children. Then I'd make them model what I'd made :)

  130. If I had the weekend to myself (and all the nagging housework done, because it's not relaxing with laundry screaming your name) I would read my Game of Throne books (6 total!) and sew some skirts or hair bows. What a dream!!!!

  132. I would sleep. And make jam, knit, watch TV, and sleep some more.

  133. I'd eat some things my family may not be too crazy about but I love. I may watch a movie--same thing, something I want to watch. I'd definitely sew and leave my mess lying around. And then I'd get to sleep in
    my own bed.

  134. I love PYP! I would probably spend my weekend doing a lot of sewing and eating out!

  135. I would spend my weekend quilting for my grandkids

  136. Seems like so many people would enjoy the peace and quiet to get some relaxation and sewing in!

Well, guess what I would do. Netflix + fabric + the indoors.

  137. Wow, that hasn't happened in 4 years ( and three kids). I work part time, so i'd spend the weekend finishing all the projects I start. And make sour dough bread, I really miss that!!!

  138. I would definitely sleep in, read in the bath, sew, and have a frozen Pepsi!

  141. How fun! I can dream and tell you that if I had a weekend to myself I would sleep passed 7 each day and stay in my Jammies and crochet or sew my days away. But in reality I would be texting/calling my husband frequently and wander around the house bored and sad because I missed my husband and my two girls. I've never heard of PYP before... I'll have to venture over there and check it out!

  142. A whole weekend?!?!?!! That would be sewing/quilting heaven for me :-D

  144. A whole weekend? Wow. I would sew from sun up to sundown and then some. I would listen to music the whole time and eat whatever I wanted to keep me going. Wow! My mind is over come.

  147. A weekend to myself? I can barely imagine... It would definitely consist of a LOT of sewing and shopping at places I wouldn't dare to take my kids. And do things I don't usually have time to do on a regular basis--like shave my legs and pluck my eyebrows. :) And sleep. I'd DEFINITELY sleep a lot (since I currently have 4 kids including a 3-month old and never get enough!)

  148. A whole weekend? Yikes! Assuming I wouldn't be able to just jet off to visit some friends (travel is expensive with kids) I would get some sewing down, read a book, bake something chocolatey, stay up late and watch movies!

    ReplyDelete
  149. Go see a movie, go out to dinner, browse as long as I want in a bookstore, make something crafty, bake something yummy and attempt to sleep in! :)

  150. If I had a weekend to myself I would love to totally clean out and reorganize my crafting room and then have fun working on a project!

    ReplyDelete
  151. Oh, the sewing, reading, and shopping I'd do!

  152. Clean. Sew fleece pants for the whole family. Work my way through the to-do list that's piling up since we brought home the new baby. And then I would nap alone in my bed...diagonally.

    ReplyDelete
  153. ooh, the options! i would spend a bit of the weekend doing all those cleaning and organizing projects that i put off. then some time with girlfriends. then some napping. then some sewing. the luxury of that!!

    ReplyDelete
  154. I could be virtuous and say I'd deep clean and organize the house or tackle all those half finished sewing projects. But more than likely, I would end up lazing around reading a book (or two!).

  155. oh sleep, go to the movies, go for a run, sleep...hmmm...window shop...ahhh, sounds nice!

  157. I would use a weekend to myself to go somewhere in the countryside, away from technology and read a real, paper book, sit outside in the sun, and recharge my batteries.

  158. I would love to sew, but I would probably catch up on much needed sleep!

  159. I'd spend the whole weekend sewing, eating chocolate, and reading. Sounds heavenly.

  160. I would sleep and sew all weekend. I have so many projects to make before Christmas!!!

  161. I would most likely be sad and lost without my family if I had an entire weekend alone! I would probably nap... a lot.

  163. With a whole weekend to myself (and of course, the funds to do what I really wanted to) I'd go visit the Dills! I miss you guys!

  164. well firstly, you have your work cut out for you reading through all those comments don't you?! :-)

    A whole weekend to entirely to myself would see me cramming in the following;
    1) I take big walks at the the big national gardens in the mountains near here with my camera to try to and snap more pictures of the cute little lyrebirds that hang out there.
    2) I would crochet till my right hand couldn't take it anymore
    3) I would knit till my left hand couldn't take it anymore.
    4) I would bake some gluten free biscuits and cakes
    5) I would possibly turn into a little piggy eating some of those gluten free biscuits and cakes
    6) I would nap... lots!
    7) I would dig out a few of those half finished sewing projects and have a go at finishing them.
    8) I would ring and or visit my mum and dad, and my daughter and her new little snow bengal kitten, because I'd love to have more time to do these things and I miss my daughter since she moved out a couple of months ago. And who doesn't love a cute little kitten?!
    9) I would surely find some time to trawl pinterest and raverly to collect more ideas and patterns to add to my crafty to do list.
    10) After a massive swarm of bees 'visited & were then relocated' last week, I am keen to learn more about their amazing lives, so I would start by researching the first steps of becoming a beekeeper... mmmmm fresh honey all the time!

I think I've run out of weekend now!

BTW - Love your work (sewing and kids!)

  165. a whole weekend?! I could finally get a project finished... like my girls halloween costumes (that haven't been started yet, oops!)

  166. I can tell you exactly what I do with a weekend off, because I get one about once a month. It's all about sewing and movies!!! A little colour play, a little documentary...a little stitching, a little drama/romance. In fact, I'll make the call to arrange my next weekend off right now!

    ReplyDelete
  167. I absolutely follow you...I've been a blog reader for over a year (so much fun to watch Drummer grow from sprout to toddler)...but I don't quite know how to officially "electronically" follow you. Maybe I'm missing a button?

  168. Oh my! A weekend entirely to myself? Is that even possible? I'm sure it would involve sleeping whenever and as often as I like, movies and a good book or two. I'd probably sneak in snacks like cheetos and other messy treats since I didn't have to share with my children.
