Yes, I just used three exclamation marks in my title. You see, people tell me how lucky I am that I get to do all girls clothes. The boy section is no fun they say. I look longingly over at the girl section and wander over there even though I don't have any girls they say. Well, anyone who doesn't think boy's clothes are any fun never had 5 girls first, I guess, because I am hooked! I've mostly been buying things since this boy wants his momma snuggling, not sewing, but as soon as I realized what a crush I had on these knit jumpsuit deals, my mind began ticking, and I worked on this a few minutes here and there.
What I wanted was a western jumpsuit, but out of knit, to keep it super comfy for the both of us. I had grand intentions of doing a tutorial, but as I stitched the pockets, those pointy yokes, and other finicky details I had visions of a mass amount of hate email coming from frustrated sewers.
So. I didn't. Plus, there are a few changes I'd make next time around, since I made it up as I went along, but I think Drummer rocks the western vibe.
I used some vintage horse shoe snaps on the pockets and regular snaps on the placket and leg openings. I'm really digging snap usage.
Normally I do my no big dill insignia on the machine, free-hand, but I sat down and actually wrote it out, all rope like, and did needle and thread in hand.
I even did some multi-tasking while stitching (Pearl studying her 8's in multiplication and Olive studying her subtraction facts).
Yes, I'm quite talented with my toes. Letterman, here I come!
So. I am looking forward to this new world of boy sewing. No ruffles? Nice. And Drummer, being the responsible cowbaby he is, groomed that horse when it was through riding.
