A Scrounged together Halloween

This was a last-minute-dig-through-the-dress-ups-thrown-together type of Halloween.  I asked Divine what she wanted to be and she said a teenager.  What's your costume?  A t-shirt, jeans, and make-up.  Ah, yes, make-up.  I asked her if she could be something that required a bit more of a costume: she wanted to be a bride.  With make-up. (You might recognize her skirt from Project Run & Play ;)
I convinced Pearl to be Pippi Longstocking.  With her red hair and freckles, she was perfect.  I was Pippi when I was probably her same age, but my hair needed to be sprayed red :)
Olive was the hit of the night.  She wanted to be a MOM!  With make-up.  Of course.  She even filled her purse with mom-like accoutrements such as nailpolish, a bracelet, a phone, and whatever else she things I carry in my purse.
Azure recycled a costume from when we were all bugs.  She wanted make-up, too.
Clover was the cutest little red fairy.
They all wanted lipstick as we walked out the door.
Luckily I had a tube of Clinique from a free Clinique Bonus promotion.
Drummer didn't get a chance to wear his costume.  Maybe I'll just put him in it and let him wear it around the house.
Hooray for easy.

  1. I'm seeing a common theme here.... make-up anyone? The girls look great and I love Azure as a mom, that brought a huge smile to my face. Enjoy the treats!

  3. Amanda--yes, make-up was very much the theme and I have a feeling we'll be revisiting this theme frequently.

The Lady--I need to dig up a picture of me as Pippi!

  5. Those were easy, but still clever. Love that mom ability that shines, even when a new babe is in the house. We're going to try easy, with saint costumes. Wish us luck.

  6. Cute! We did the costume scramble last night... I wasn't going to dress up and neither was my 12 year old. We both changed our minds about an hour or so before it was time to leave :)

  8. They look great! I wish I had had that tradition when I was little - in Australia Halloween has never been celebrated until the last couple of years, when I've noticed some small groups of kids and parents trick or treating in our area. Most houses aren't prepared for them though and have nothing to hand out!

Olive looks more and more like you every time you post a photo of her :)

  9. Precious girls! I went store-bought this year and hated every minute of it. But, the kids were happy and in the end, that's what really matters. Your little Dills are very precious!

  11. I think you should look into taking shares in a cosmetic company ...this can only be the tip of the iceberg with the lipstick. Costumes are great.

  17. You've got a story there: A spider, a bride, a red fairy, Pippi and her mom....or maybe a Broadway musical!

  18. I love the picture of Clover. I had the hardest time getting Reid to hold still for a picture too. :)

I agree...Olive's costume is so cute! What a fun idea.
