A September Baby and Housekeeping

Happy September!  I scrubbed the tub this morning and still no baby, but I'm glad we won't have another August birthday in this dill clan of ours.  My mom came today, so NOW the baby can really come, but now it feels like I have been and will be eternally pregnant, because life goes on when you have a bunch of baby dills:
One of my friends said a good way to annoy friends and family is not to find out the gender of your baby and then go past your due date.  Check and check.  Perhaps Labor day will soon have new meaning to me? ;)

* * *
Meanwhile, do you know what September means?  It's National Sewing Month!  Sadly I won't be doing all the sewing projects and giveaways I've done for the past two Septembers, but I thought it would be a good time to bring home my "babies" (guest tutorials I've done for other blogs) while I am in the process of bringing home my real baby.  That will include all my tutorials for Project Run & Play.  Speaking of which, Cycle 2 is starting up tomorrow and I am one of the judges for this round!  There are some great designers that are going to astound us.

* * *
Also, the Red Cross fundraiser of 50+ Bloggers Cookbook raised over $19,000!  Fantastic job!  Thank you to everyone who bought one.  The winner of the dish towel giveaway in conjunction with the cookbook post is:
Congratulations!
And Chané is offering free shipping through September on all domestic orders--use code WHATADILL at her etsy shop, What the Hart Likes, for your discount.

One more thing and I'll let you get on with your day:  For all your kind comments and sweet words about my Never Enough Orange Sewing Studio and on my blog in general, I'm holding a giveaway for one of my beaded ruffled cuffs I made this summer, because I appreciate my readers!
I know many blogs get comments that are less than kind, but I have received maybe 2 or 3 in my entire blogging life.  All you have to do is leave a comment on this post and you will be entered!  Easy Peasy.  (Also, if your email isn't linked to your profile, leave that as well.)
Aqua and orange (of course ;)  Sounds like I've convinced a lot of you of the goodness of orange.  So, thank you, dear readers, and as soon as this baby gets here, I will choose a winner!  How's that for a deadline? ;)

  1. I would love to win a bracelet. So pretty!!! Really, people leave mean comments? I think the meanest I've ever been is when I've begged to know their secret to efficiency. You know, like how does a pregnant mom of five find time to make such gorgeous bracelets? Maybe I should stop sitting at the computer reading sewing blogs? Nah! I'll just cross my fingers and hope I win. THANKS!!!! And I hope you have a good weekend!

    Your bracelets are gorgeous. My daughter , Elisabeth, has a new orange dress that would look stunning with your bracelet.

    Hoping for another ,Cl;over like , delivery for you.

  3. I have been checking and checking to see if you will be having a boy or girl! I've never met you but am still anxious to know! This bracelet is adorable. I love the teal with the orange. I also LOVED your Flor carpets. I have wondered how those hold up. Your studio looks fantastic!

  11. It seems that everyone everywhere is having a baby! I can't wait to read about the arrival of this new little one. I hope you have lots of little orange outfits to dress him or her in! I have only just begun to sew for my baby, and I keep making everything too small, but luckily I know plenty of people having brand new babies to gift the tiny clothes to. I would just die for a sewing room like yours! all I have currently is a very crazy, cluttered, disorganized corner. In due time. Now, about that bracelet....

  14. You are too kind! I would love to wear this cuff. Gorgeous. I cannot believe still no baby. I'm convinced it's a boy. They love their mommas... he (?) just can't let go yet. We'll see if I'm right. :) Praying for a beautiful birth!!! XO

  15. I LOVE this picture of #s 3, 4 & 5! I can't believe how anxious I am to find out what your #6 will be! I've never gone late (or even fully come "due," as I'm always a week early) with a pregnancy so I can't even imagine how anxious you must be...but on the bright side, the difference between an August baby and a September baby is the difference between a summer baby and a fall baby, and in my most humble opinion...fall is better than summer anyway! Best wishes with the impending delight/sleep deprivation that accompanies new babies! Glad your mom is already on hand to help out!

I am always amazed when I read your posts at your apparent patience through this last bit and hope that if it's ever my turn I'll approach it with as much grace as you.

    I don't really wear bracelets (not that I'm likely to win) but if you randomly pick me, go ahead and give it to the next 'cause i just wanted to leave a comment :P

  39. Your blog is one of my must reads. I'm sure you're ready to hold your baby-thanks for sharing your adventures. My MIL swears that strawberry pie will induce labor-I didn't believe her until I served it to my SIL and she delivered less than 24 hours later. Good luck!

    ReplyDelete
  40. I sure hope for you that your new baby pops out soon! I went only one week overdue and then went for induction. Even that almost didn't work. My little girl was way to happy inside and was actually sleeping (according to her heartrate at the time) while I was having contractions. One year later she is still calm and oh so happy. A little extra baking pays off I guess.

  52. I love your blog. I love orange, but if I win I will have to give the bracelet to my mother because she really LOVES orange---as in she went through a phase of wearing an entire orange jogging suit when she was going "casual." Eventually she abandoned it when people started complimenting her inmate chic style. Regardless she still loves orange and would adore that beautiful bracelet.

  54. I am just like you I never found out the sex of my four babies 3 girls and then our sweet little boy. What a surprise he was! my doctor told me that semen is a great cervix softener. Worked two times for me. And I just love your bracelets.

  55. It is so hard to wait for a baby to decide to make their way. I have been past my EDD with both my girls. The phone calls asking me if I had the baby yet were so annoying. It is just so hard! It is like sitting on a ticking time bomb. At #6 I am sure it still has not gotten easier. (by the way, I am the oldest of 6. Love my big family!) Good luck.

  77. So good that you're mum is there to help out! I hope you don't have to wait too long now.
    Had to laugh at the part about how to annoy family & friends by not finding out the baby's gender. I had my 20 week ultrasound for baby #3 yesterday. We decided not to find out this time (we found out and told the past two times, both girls) ... and my mum was super annoyed that we didn't find out! haha. They think it's a boy and want to know. hehehehe.

With seven grandchildren around the ages of your delightful brood, I feel so much in touch with what you experience day to day. I too love surprises in the baby stakes. We only knew the sex of one of our grandchildren and I must say it somehow took away that delightful element of surprise. Best of luck!

    We went to 42 weeks exactly with our surprise baby and, yes, everyone was going out of their minds. I sort of enjoyed it, though!

  133. I was just looking at the calendar tonight too and wondered if we will have a Labor Day baby. Hopefully no, as that would be only 36 weeks here, but we can go any day now... at least that is what my DR thinks. I hope to make my scheduled C-section on the 22nd (although a small part of me just wants to be done being pregnant too... I am huge and uncomfortable!!) Good luck and safe delivery of little dill #6!

  134. You amaze me! Not only as a very talented maker of things, but as a good Mom as well.
    I hope baby number 6 gets here quickly for you.

  139. I'm gunna be honest. I'm always cleaning and you can never tell. I have such dark circles under my eyes that I feel it necessary to coordinate my wardrobe to match them. Our budget is so tight that I haven't had a haircut (not even a cheap one) in over two years. The washer rarely gets a break. I change at least 5 stinky, poopy diapers per day. And I couldn't be happier! I lover being a mother and am secretly (or not so secretly) wishing for another baby. I'll definitely be celebrating September by sewing re-purposed clothes. Happy September! Happily living life!

As I find myself readying fewer and fewer blogs, I still check in here first to see how you may inspire me, as a mother, a healthier eater (I plan to make avocado ice cream this weekend. I don't know what I'm doing but when you mentioned that you and your hubby save that for after the kids go to be it sounded good, so I'm going to give it a go.), and a better seamstress/creator. Thanks for sharing a part of your world with me.
