a big dill!

I am tickled that so many of you are looking forward to the September Sewing Celebration almost as much as I am.  I thank you for your enthusiasm--it makes it that much more splendid for me.  I have a spot left to fill, a wild space so to speak, so if there is something in particular you'd desperately [or not so desperately] like to see/learn, leave me a comment and a project might be devised just for you.

Also, I know I am possibly the last person on earth to create a Flickr group, but I've never been on the edge of technology and I'm fine with that.  As we get going into our Sewing Celebration, I'd love to see your interpretations of the projects and tutorials.  Please share [one of the most important things learned in Kindergarten] here: a big dill!

  1. I would love to learn how to put pockets into dresses easy peasy. Not just ones on the front of the dress but on the side seam. Am I making any sense?

So excited for Sewing September! :)

  2. I'd love to learn how to make the flowers in this post http://thedillspiel.blogspot.com/2010/04/coming-to-my-sew-apropossoon.html

(and how to share with Flickr :-)

  3. Tell me how you find/make time for sewing.

    Show me an unfinished project.

  4. I would love to be able to make a simple vest for my little guy (like a suit vest, not a sweater vest). I know you have all girls and don't have much reason for making vests probably, but that is a project I have been wanting to be able to do. I'm excited for September!

  5. I would LOVE to learn how to make clothes from an existing piece. Like, 'hey I LOVE this top, but I want it in THIS fabric.' kinda thing.
    Or, you know, whatever...

  6. I'd love to learn some of those flowers you use on the headbands for your girls. They look like fabric, not ribbon. (I'm thinking from the back-to-school post)
Also, it's not sewing, but if you'd care to tutorial one of your bracelets, you'd have an even bigger fan

  7. I love your blog for many reasons, but you've got mad skills when it comes to sewing! I'd love for you to do a tutorial on making simple dresses/tunics for adults. I need dresses with some sort of sleeve and a close-to-knee hem, so it's often tricky to find something that fits the bill in the fashion world.

Can't wait for September! Oh, and when I say "simple", I mean it! I'm a fledgling seamstress at best!

  8. I can't wait!

If you could do a tutorial for someone like poor me who has no sewing machine but loves to sew with her old little needle. Something like "what do you do when you need to do X but have no sewing machine".

    :)

  9. I'm with Through the looking Glass!! How about something for us. A homemade yet sassy dress for us, maybe even refashioned from some other clothing! Preferably with a zipper to get more bang for the buck!!

  10. I'm just already feeling guilty that I can't sew/break every sewing machine I've ever had/am utterly impatient when it comes to anything with the word "sew" in it.

    Yes, even "sew"er.

  12. i'm certain everything you show us will be so ladylike and gorgeous i don't even know what to request!!
i'm loving dainty dresses that are still practical for daily life with kids- if you have any easy breezy ideas i'd love them.

  13. I would love if you'd show us how to make a shawl. I've been wanting to make one for my grandma but haven't been able to figure out the dimensions or how to embellish it.

  14. My girls begin school tomorrow and then just a couple days after it is September. I am looking forward to this sewing celebration. My Mom taught me the basics of sewing and then took a couple courses in collage. This past year we moved into a house that I can keep my sewing machine out all the time(almost nothing is better than that):) I am sure there are many things you can teach me; one being how to sew with knits. Whenever I try, it looks hideous. Any suggestions would be so welcome!

  15. I may be too late, but I have always wanted to do a "girls in white dresses with blue satin sashes" theme for my three girls (who are now 14, 8,5). I would love to do a different, nontraditional take on it. Any ideas would be great.
