A Public Plea and Proposal Post

**UPDATE:  Fabric has been found!  If you happen to have already bought some fabric for me, I will certainly reimburse you for what you have.  Hooray!!!  Thank you all for helping me. I was so surprised [I shouldn't have been, right?] and touched by the quick response from everyone!

The cLOVEr 2 dress will soon be available--limited edition, obviously :)

After the posting of Clover's birthday dress, I had a reader suggest I put these in my Etsy shop.  Fabulous idea!

Problem:
The fabric is on clearance and being discontinued.

Proposal:
I emailed my family members and a friend out in CA and had no luck.  My friend suggested I go to my best resource:  YOU!
So, it's a quest.
Those who live close to an IKEA, check out the fabric section and if they have any left, buy the whole bolt (or two?) and I will make you your very own "cLOVEr" dress [plus, of course, reimburse you for the purchase/shipping of the fabric]. OR overalls.  How cute would little 2 overalls be!?!

fine Print:
The first 2-3 people [depending on how much fabric is found] will receive a dress or overalls.  If you have no 2 year old in your life, we can make other arrangements.  I will give an update when I hear from you so you can stop looking when I have enough.

On your mark.
Get set.
GO!

Thank you.

  1. As soon as I saw this post the first time, I went looking for the fabric online at Ikea and they don't carry it there...SO SAD! We don't live near an Ikea, so I can't help look for fabric, but I would love to pre-order a dress if at all possible. Let me know if that can be arranged...pretty please!!!:)

  4. Almost daily I lament the fact that I don't live near an ikea. I hope someone can help you out! I think the dress would also be darling in other fabrics as well. :)

  7. Ooooh, methinks a trip to Ikea is in order. Not that you really had to convince me to go to Ikea. :)

  8. Lol...I WORK for Ikea, so I'll run a internal search for that fabric and report back tomorrow. We can at least eliminate the Ikea's without that fabric group in stock anymore, if we can't narrow it down further!

    Til tomorrow!

  11. No more of that fabric in the Ikea I went to 3 days ago. I know I would have noticed after seeing the 'clover' dress. but anyway, I guess the shipment fee would have been a bit crazy all the way from Belgium... I hope you find a solution... that dress is amazing!

  12. I recognize that fabric from our local IKEA that I visited the other day. If you're still in need, let me know and I'd be happy to pop on over and see if they have any left.

  16. UPDATE: This fabric is part of a group called 'Fialena.' The following stores SHOULD have this variety of Fialena in stock, based on the huge quantities they have in stock:

    Long Island, NY (?)
    Tempe, Az
    College Park, CA (la area-ish)
    Philadelphia, PA

If you're on the phone checking with then, tell them to open "PIA facts" and the exact fabric you want is second from the top of the stack in the picture.

I can't wait to make this dress for my little girl! We're headed to IKEA next week and I'm planning on looking for the fabric. Thanks for the wonderful ideas and the helpful tutorial.

  20. Although my house is full of boys - I'm hoping someday for a girl! Fingers crossed. Maybe in a few months. So - please add one more to your etsy list for me. I love it! And Clover wears it so well.
