Happy Day.

Not even 9 and already it's a happy day. I giggled all day long as your comments came in about things I should[n't] know about you yesterday, and I am not the giggling type of person....potato chips in bras. Ryan loved dinner last night. He told more than once. That makes me happy [and now you're wondering what I made: homemade chicken nuggets, baked potatoes with broccoli and cheese sauce which I googled and made the first recipe that popped up, and, of course, our refrigerator staple of late, peach-rosemary lemonade-we triple it when we make it = sometimes it's the comfort foods, you know?] I changed the bedspread to my favorite summer orange quilt. My favorite room in the morning with the bright sun streaming in. A walk in the yard this morning revealed another broccoli florette, gladiolus blooming up a storm, and the first gardenia blooming! I detected the scent even before I found the white blossom hiding behind the sunflowers. I got everyone off to school with a lunch and appropriate backpack contents. That's bigger than it sounds. I also finished swapping winter clothes with summer clothes in drawers and closets. 5 sets. Yes, you may call me superwoman today. It's been hot for quite a while now, but I knew when Pearl came in from riding her bike last week, her face strawberry red and her hair matted and glistening with sweat, wearing a full length black velvet skirt declaring that she wasn't hot, I knew it was time. I had grits for breakfast. And one more thing for you locals, it's time for another SEWING SOIREE*! Yes, mark your calendars for the 26th of May, and start some project planning. I'm already thinking of nice nosh to nibble for the occasion.

Hope you have a happy day! I'm off to do some recreational sewing [despite what you may think, I do not consider all sewing recreational.]

*Edit: A Sewing Soiree is an evening where you bring your projects to have an evening of relaxed sewing, great company [if I do say so myself], and usually some exciting food. I can help with sewing questions or just come and soak up inspiration from everyone else. See here and here. Email me for details.

  2. What is nosh? I wish I had your energy! Today I am definitely feeling those first trimester woes--nausea and fatigue. I want egg rolls but don't have any and I just want to sleep. Poor me. :)

  3. I wish I was a local and could attend the sewing soiree!!! Although still VERY new at this I do enjoy it!! I love the orange quilt....where did you get it? I too conquered the changing over of clothes from one season to the next this week and felt VERY accomplished by the end of the process (and I only have 2 girls!!)! It feels refreshing to me!! And I WILL be making that lemonade!! YUMMY!

  7. So....where exactly in the (state that you live) do you live? Feel free to email me. :)

We shall be in your state (unless I'm confused) for a bit soon, and...wow, this sounds cryptic. But yes, I wanted to know how close we'd be.

And there I go...off of your friends list and into the stalker/freak pile.

    Sigh. :)

  9. Wow! I have not visited your blog in a long time...I think the last time I did, it was still a private blog and I noticed you now have 240 (and then some) followers! Add me to the list! I loved your post about 5 weddings. You go girl! I would be happy to offer some violin to the mix, if you would like. You're an inspiration, by the way! The love you have for your girls, your hubby , and your life shine through your posts. You exude happiness and it's very contagious!
