Swatchee Project I

This is my own design.  I had the skirt concept, but then decided to make it into a jumper.  It's made from some Pendleton wool I've had since high school (no moth holes!)  I lined the entire thing except for the waistband and straps, which will only be touching her shirt anyway.  I used crochet thread for the hand stitching, which I really like the sheen of, though it's harder to pull through than embroidery thread.  The hem is faced to give it a smooth finish.  The pockets?  Korean Swatchees, of course! (which were also sewn on by hand, but with matching thread.)

  1. I love this- I went to a private school for elementary school and we wore something similar to this- I LOVE it! I told my mom I wanted her to save my uniforms for my little girl but this is so much sweeter!

  5. I can tell you that on Saturday afternoon Katy laid out the fabric, no pattern, cut the pieces and began to stich. By that evening only a few places for handstitching were left. Oh, and the straps attachment.

I asked if I laid on a piece of fabri,c on the floor, if she could cut me a skirt. She assured me she could. Amazing talented woman.

  10. Katy,

Thanks for visiting & following my blog! I have actually visited yours several times in admiration of your sewing skills! I think I first found you through Ashley Thalman...but you are related to Anne (spacing her maiden name right now) aren't you. I think you are her sister? Anyway we went to high school together. It's such a small world!
