Princess Olive

This girl drives me crazy.  I find myself asking her quite often, "What were you thinking?" (read: It's quite apparent that you were not thinking, at least not thinking of what kind of trouble you were going to get in when you decided to....)  She really lives somewhere else (her head) much of the time, and I so wish I could go visit her there.  I would like to see what her perfect world is like, where she never has to eat protein for every meal, or take a bath, or brush her teeth (not again! she says upon this request), or apologize to anyone.  I imagine it is a place where floating and twirling are the only modes of transportation and singing high soprano, deep curtsying, and eyelash batting are the only forms of communication. Olive was born to be royalty, and I am working on treating her as such.

  1. It really is uncanny how kindred these two spirits are: my Lucy and your Olive.

  2. Olive is so dang cute. I love watching her interact with others. I think Ashlyn will be much like Olive. She really is already there, but just can't communicate quite as well. Every day I find myself asking her, 'what is going on in your little head'. But she definitely provides a lot of laughs (or else we would go crazy) and I could just watch her all day.

  3. When I was little I think I was like Olive. My mother was always getting mad at me for whatever it was I was doing because it certainly wasn't on the agenda--always off in another world. Sorry, if she got that from me.

  5. I have a boy that is just the same. Thank goodness he doesnt get lost in eyelash batting and curtsying but he is always writing in his head and coming up with secret missions at dinner. It is my greatest joy to see such individual spirits develop and and my greatest frustration! She is a doll! I love line up of her pals!

  6. I love the idea of finding out what her perfect world would be like - they would all be so different, right?

  7. beautiful photograph.
i hope you will guide her well so taht her natural abilities may bloom and profit her (and you). with that personality, she will be great to have around when you get pulled over for a speeding ticket.

"what? that sign applied to US?"

  8. Every parent needs at least one "olive". Mine turns two tomorrow and it is a little terrifying, with each new day I know she learns how to help herself to more and more mischief. One day we will be able to look back and laugh... right? Please tell me I'm right.
