I'm Dreaming of an Orange Christmas...
I was so excited to find an orange Santa!
I've been collecting orange ornaments for about 3 years now, because, well, there aren't that many. I love the color orange and, though it doesn't seem like a Christmas color, I knew I would like it. Ryan found orange Christmas cacti and we already had orange pots. We even have an orange, feather wreath my dad gave me when we moved. I scooped up the after halloween and Thanksgiving ribbons for present decor, not allowing retail stores to gift wrap anything I buy, as who wraps in orange around Christmas?
The only thing I haven't found is orange wrapping paper....

Orange you glad it's almost December!
ReplyDeleteLove the orange Santa, but where did you find the orange popsicle ornament?
I found it at Hobby Lobby, and Olive had to carry it through the whole store (since it was not glass.) She lifted it up to give to the cashier and the cashier thought it was a real popsicle.
ReplyDeleteI love your tree...what a brilliant idea. Oh and the butterfly on top puts such a great finishing touch.
ReplyDeleteI love it. The butterfly tree-topper is perfect!!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutley gorgeous. Very fun! Do you have any advice for us? We have a very tight budget, no ornaments and only stringed lights... what to do, what to do...
ReplyDeleteAnn, our first tree had about three ornaments on it. That's how it starts!! That's what makes it so good.
ReplyDeleteAnn,
ReplyDeleteMake decorated cookie ornaments, string popcorn and cranberries, cover pine cones with glitter, or make some of those woven webs out of yarn and popsicle sticks (do you remember making those in grade school?). Our first tree was about 3 ft and had maybe 4 ornaments. This year do all your Christmas shopping the day after Christmas (that's what I've done every year.)
Thanks. We have already planned the stringed popcorn and maybe cookies. It'll be fun to see what we can come up with.
ReplyDeleteOrange you glad for Christmas?
ReplyDeleteI love the orange christmas! how fun! so do you always do a certain color? And are you always going to do orange or do you plan to switch around?
ReplyDeleteI love the butterfly and the snowflakes. Very cool.
Love your orange tree--what a fun twist on traditional holiday colors!
ReplyDelete"Oranged" and decorated by the Dills. How fun, didn't know it would be so pretty.
ReplyDeleteKaty- ever since we were in AP Art together I have tried to do glass work, but I m not sure if I use the wrong tools or what. Anyway you asked ideas for a round light or circular fixture for your living room. I once did a fixture using an round embroidery frame and painted it and I actually hung circular frame glass of different sizes from it. If I was really good with sautering like you, you could sauter with silver to hang round clear glass christmas balls. Have you ever seen them? They come in all sizes. You can also use these for your tree by taking off the top and pouring in different shades of orange. Then you shake it up and let it dry. It looks really cool. I have done it with all different color schemes.-jen macdonald
ReplyDeleteIf you need more orange ornaments/ decorations, you could always reach out to UT fans/ blog readers (Texas or Tennessee). I live in Austin and we have an "orange santa" program like adopting an angel and giving presents to kids except it is done through UT Austin. Anyway, my point is that there are orange ornaments around here every year. I know that this post is from a long time ago before your two newest baby dills, but I thought I'd share.I'm slowly going back in time to the beginning. It is kinda fun to read everything in reverse.
